Sometimes we find ourselves at the whipping edge of the storm, sometimes at the still but radiant eye. If we're enamored of our own strength, we may come to love resistance for its own sake: we push out when we're being pulled in, or shrink stubbornly into ourselves against the outflung winds. But when we fight the weather of the moment, we risk wasting its power.
Posted over my desk is a quotation from the Tao Te Ching that I return to in turbulent times:
Do you have the patience to wait until your mud settles and the water is clear?
Can you remain unmoving until the right action arises by itself?
The answer is often no, but the questions still and steady me.
Forza!
